Forever Friends challenge # 52 Ruth's Birthday

I cannot believe my second grandchild is entering her teen years!  Over at Forever Friends, the challenge this fortnight is sponsored by OPC Studio & Delicious Dooodles.  I chose this particular image form DD for my grand daughter.  She loves horses so am hoping she will like this card.  I used scraps from other projects.  The center flower is from some winnings I received several years ago.  The numbers are from old set of Cuttlebug dies that I thought I need to dust off and use.  lol  It is new for me to use digi stamps.  I had tried a couple years ago and just never got the hang of coloring them without streaking.  I am now learning more and trying different techniques.  The ribbon is also a newer one that I bought from Michael's when they had it on sale before Christmas.  As you can see, I sewed and inked the edges. And since this is a girly card....I got to use lots of flowers and stickles!  lol  I hope to see lots of you over to Forever Friends for this challenge!  Thanks for stopping by and hugs to all.  God bless you all in 2013!

Froggie Birthday card for AI challenge

Nothing like a Banjo slinging frog to wish you a Happy Birthday!  This cute little image is from Eureka Stamps which is one of our sponsors for this challenge.  Limited Runs and QKR are also sponsoring our challenge for "Celebrations/Anything Goes" over at Artistic Inspirations.

I colored this little guy with colored pencils because I am still learning the fine ability of coloring digis with copics.....and not learning none too fast mind you.  lol  I mounted him on an "Action Wobble" so he also dances as he strums along. The sentiment stamp is from Jusr Right stamps.  I inked the edges and sewed as you can see.  The little music note punches and guitar charm finish it off......I hope.  lol  I have a grandson that likes frogs so am hoping he will like this little dancing fellow if he happens to end up in the grandson's mail box.

Thank you so much for stopping by.  May God bless you all in 2013!  hugs

Tag challenge for Artistic Inspirations

The challenge this fortnight from Artistic Inspirations is to make a tag or book mark.  We have three wonderful sponsors this time.....QKR, Eureka, and Gingerloft.  I chose to use this tag from Gingerloft.  I think it was a great finish to the front of my book.
This album was made for a swap I am hosting.  We each were to make a mini Christmas album.  We then drew names and Justy will receive mine.  I sure hope she likes what I have made.   The papers are just some odds and ends I had laying around in anticipation of being used.  The flowers are from Wild Orchid.  The Merry Christmas sentiment is cut and stamped from Whimsy.

There are two tags that pull out of the front.
The second and third pages are created with really no photos places.  The fireplace is cut from a Magnolia ticket die.  The wreath spray and tree are made from punches.  The little stocking are fuzzy little buttons.  I think they are so cute!  The little lamp on the mantle is from a Cricut cartridge my niece owns.  Thanks Tauna for cutting it out for me.

The lamp pulls out from behind the fireplace for a tag to put photos on.  The little fold out strip comes out of the pocket.  both sides are covered in pps so hopefully will give Justy plenty of space for pictures.
The 4th and 5th pages are again hidden photo areas.  The sentiments are rubons that I found buried in my stash.  The little charm and Santa stickers were also found in this buried treasure box.  lol  The lacie border is another Magnolia die.

The folding tag pulls out on the left side while the right side has a fold out album when you untie the ribbon.
The last pages are quite simple.  The two little snowman stickers were again from stash.  I made the stripped pockets and then added the photo frames on top.   Justy can easily slide a photo under the ribbons if she wants.

Each side has three tags.  Each tag has a double punched snowflake added to both sides.  Then the snowflakes are coated with stickles for an extra shine.

I have inked all the edges and added stickles where I deemed fit.  I enjoyed making this little album and I sure hope Justy enjoys using it. Please come join the fun this fortnight at Artistic Inspirations!

Thanks to all the ladies that participated in this swap.  And thanks to everyone who took time to view it.  Hugs to all and may God bless us all.

My First DT card for Forever Friends!

Yes, I am now on the DT for Forever Friends.....the home of these darling bears!  I have a few of these little bears and I love them.  I am really excited about being on DTs again and hope all works out that I can fulfill my obligations.  I used scrap papers once again for this card.  I also used my new Whimsy die for the sentiment.  The tiny candy canes throughout the flowers are some that I have had for years.  They show up much better in person than in the picture.  I inked around the edges, sewed and then stickled.  I had a lot of fun creating this card for Forever Friends and I hope everyone will join us this fortnight.  Our challenge this time is to make a Christmas Card!  I know you probably are hustling to get some finished so take a few minutes to play along with us!  Our sponsors for this challenge are

My First DT card for Artistic Inspirations!!!

I feel so blessed this past couple weeks!  I have been chosen to be on two design teams!  The first is for Artistic Inspirations.  It is a weekly challenge but there are two teams so I just need to make a card for every other challenge. I am hoping I can make a card every two weeks without stressing too much.  lol  This time the challenge is Ribbon and Lace.
 Our sponsors are :
Paints Daily
I used the vintage garden clock from The Dragon's Lair.  I thought it would make a nice "Thinking of You" card because anytime is a great time to think of someone.  lol  I lightly shaded it with copic markers and then inked everything with Chestnut Roan ink by Color Box.  All the papers other than the card base are scraps from some other cards I have made the past couple weeks. I used my handy dandy Tim Holtz distressing tool to rough the edges before inking.  I sewed the edges and then added a little stickles to highlight things.  Since I really do not have a stash of a lot of lace and since I have vowed to not buy too much unless I really need it, then I opted to use a MS punch for my lace.  The "Miss You " sentiment is cut from a die from Whimsy and the other sentiment die is from Magnolia.  I added the glittered pearls for added accent and decided I better stop before I have it way too gaudy.  lol  Anyway, please come over and join us in this awesome challenge!!!  ARTISTIC INSPIRATIONS!

Thank you all for stopping by.  Hugs and God bless you!

Penguin Christmas

Here is the last card for the year for the Christmas card challenge group I am in.  I chose this darling little penguin from Wild Rose.  I used the sizzlet snowflake die to add little white leaves to the rose as well as for the two snowflakes.  They are actually two dies put together then stickled.  I then added tiny rhinestones to the tips and a larger one to the centers. The sentiment die is from Spellbinders as well as the circle die. The papers were some scraps I had stashed from other creations.  The little fellow is colored with copics and actually has a tad more shading to him than shows up in the photo.  I inked the edges and added a little ribbon and lace.  Thanks so much for stopping by.  God bless and many hugs to each of you.

Brother's Birthday Card

Well, I think this is the last birthday card I am "required" to make until January when it will start all over again.  lol  This is for one of my brothers who so happens to love eagles.  I gave it a try to color "natural" things but am ready to go back to cutsie and not real life.   lol  I have know idea how to color animals so they look right but I think my brother will like it no matter how it looks.  (hoping anyway lol).  I used copics to color him.  I thought a simple step card would work well with this stamp because it is so big.  I inked the edges but made this mainly while staying at my mom's and did not have my sewing machine with me so no sewing this time.  I must say it does look a bit unfinished to me without the stitching but again my brother will like it in spite of my lack of embellishing.  The trees are old Sizzix dies.  The sentiment die is a new one from Whimsy.  That is about all I can say about this simple card.  Thank you for stopping by.  God bless and hugs to all.

Jonathan's Birthday

This is the birthday card I made for one of my grandsons.  I cannot believe it was 9 years ago this little fellow came into this world and won his grannies heart forever.  He has been a joy from day one and always keeps us laughing.  Since he loves koalas so much I ordered the Magnolia stamp with Tilda holding this little guy.  I could not use Tilda for my grandson's card so cut her loose!  lol  This little Bildmalarna stamp was happy to take him off her hands.  lol  The papers are scraps from another card I made this month.  The little pennants are from a new die I just bought.  I inked the edges and then sewed.  The little charm just had to be added too.  And you know I can hardly make a card without stickles so added some to the number.  He opened this tonight when we celebrated his special day and he seemed to really like it.  Thank you for stopping by.  God bless you always.

My winnings!

I am so excited!  I usually do not enter contests like this and if I do I never win. I thank Bev for showing it to me because I entered a contest at Kathy's Cozies and I won!!!  She made me this awesome garbage bag for my Scrap-Ma-Bob!  I got to choose the fabric for it and believe me she has tons of fabric to choose from.  When I saw the little froggies, I just had to have them.  lol   She makes covers for all kinds of scrapping tools and such.  I can hardly wait to get my little old hands on this but am afraid I might not want to fill it with trash!  lol  Anyway, just wanted to show off my fancy trash bag.   Bev, thank you so much for leading me to Kathy.  She is a real sweetie to do business with.  And very prompt in making you items.  Thanks to Kathy for giving me the opportunity to win!  I am very blessed and I praise God for all He does (even more so when I don't win!)  lol  Hugs to all

Advent Calendar

After watching a You Tube video on making your own Advent calendars, I decided to make one for each of my grand daughters.  This is my first attempt at creating something like this and although it took me a long time (mainly because I am so slow), I had fun making it.  The first thing I did after making the box grid, was search for a sketch that I thought would work well with this project.  I do hope it will okay for their challenge because it is not a card and am not sure if they will accept that.  Anyway,  this little Tilda stamp I purchased just to use on something for my youngest grand daughter as she just got glassed this past year.  I used several dies on this project from Spellbinders to Sizzlets.  I inked around most the edges and did a little sewing here and there.  I thought the little jingle bells would me a nice finishing touch for the girls. And of course there is lots of stickles here and there!  lol  Thanks so much for stopping by.  Hugs and God bless you all.

Another Girly birthday card

Here is one more of the birthday cards I needed to make for October birthdays.  This one is  for my daughter-in-law.  I chose this cute little fairy from LOTV.  I am going thru all my boxes of stamps and going to try to use each one at least once for something.  Might be selling some if I cannot get them used as no use keeping so many and never touching them.......and believe me, I have soooo many.  lol   Anyway,  this card is also made from left over papers from my scrap drawer.  I colored her with copics.  Again, as usual, the edges are inked and sewed.  I added stickles to the flower and the little seed pods she is blowing.  I also added stickles to the three heart brads at the bottom but forgot to get a photo of them before I mailed it off.  The half oval sentiment is from Whimsy die and stamp set.  The other sentiment banner is from a set I bought some time ago and cannot remember what company they are from.  Anyway, thanks so much for stopping by.  Hugs and prays for each of you.

Little Tilda Christmas Card

This is the card I made for the Christmas Challenge group I am in.  I am still trying to live up to my New Years vow to use my stash.  All the papers are scraps from other cards and such.  The little Tilda stamp I bought last year before Christmas and I think this is the first time I used her.  I used Nesties to cut the ovals and a Whimsy die for the sentiment.  I made the small solid red roses using a flower punch some time last year and decided I should use them too.  The other floral items are from Wild Orchid.  I even dug out my old Studio G stamps for the sentiment.  You ought to see my room now from all the digging around finding things I forgot I had.  lol  Anyway, Tilda is colored with copics.  And you can see that I inked and sewed the edges.  I am trying to decide if I should add a little stickles here and there but so far have abstained from that compulsion.  lol

Thank you so much for stopping by.  Hugs to all and may God always bless you.

For a very special sister!

I made this for my sister (even tho she married my brother to become my sister is beside the point! lol).  Then we are even closer than blood as we are sisters in Christ and you can't get better family than that!   Anyway, this is my first attempt at making a cascade card.  I saw a video on how to make them and thought it would be perfect for her.  She usually gets my first attempts at things.  lol  I chose this little Bildy stamp because she collects tea cups and I thought it was really cute.  All the papers are from my scrap drawer so still fulfilling my vow to use up some stash.  The video did not include the tag but I wanted to add a sentiment poem so decided the tag would work perfectly.  I loved making the cascade card and am planning to make some more for Christmas.  Thank you all so much for stopping by.  Hugs to all and God bless.

More football

Here is a layout I made for a challenge group I am in.  It was a sketch challenge and this is my take on it.  This is my little grandson and his first year of contact football.  My three children went to school at West and he is playing for East.  It is kind of different having to root for the main rival my kids played against.  lol  He is in fourth grade so I better get used to as I feel there will be more seasons that I will have to root for East.  I think I have three more layouts and I will have this season done for him.  Then I think I need to move on to something for the grand daughters so I can use pink, flowers and frills.  lol  Thank you so much for stopping by.  Hugs and God bless each of you.

Finally scrapping some again!

I am so glad to be scrapping some again.  It has been an extremely long month but things seem to be settling down to some sort of normal......at least for the time being.  lol  The month of October is full of birthdays and I am behind on making cards but hopefully can catch up this week.  This is one I made for my youngest grandchild.....cannot believe he is already 6!  I did manage to get it done and mailed off today so hope he receives it on his birthday.  I used one of my favorite Bildy stamps.  I used some old old papers from my stash.  I am hoping he likes blue!  lol  I also made it an easel card hoping he will like standing it up.  He is such a funny little man and I sure wish I could be there to watch him celebrate his special day.

Anyway, thank you so much for stopping by.  May God watch over you all and keep you safe.

Last minute Christmas Card

I hurried and got this card finished in just the nick of time for a challenge group I am in.  We have a full month to do each challenge and it is behind my comprehension as to why I find the need to wait until the last possible moment to do it!  lol  Anyway, it is done and I am relieved to have it done.  lol  I used my new Mag stamp of Cocoa the bear.  I colored her with copics and colored pencils.  The papers are scraps from other projects.  I dug out my border die from Quikutz for the swirls.  I have had it forever and this is the first time I think I have used it.  The ticket stamp is from Bildmalarna.  I sewed and inked the edges and of course added stickles for a little bling.

Thanks for stopping by and God bless!

White on White!

I won the award of  being a guest designer this week for My Sheri Crafts.  Thank you so much for allowing me this honor!  The challenge this week is white on white.  Now I have never done a white on white challenges so this was something new to me.  I had no idea where to even start except in my pile of white cardstock.  lol  I dug out the different punches and dies I had and just started having some fun trying to stack things up.  Each layer of paper is popped up for a little added dimension.  My buddy, Bev, should me the butterflies made from flowers so figured it was as good a time as any to play around with them too.  I added little heart pearls and stickles to finish things off.  Not sure if I liked getting out of my comfort zone doing this but it was good for me.  lol  I am hoping my nephew will like it for his upcoming wedding this month.  Anyway, head over to My Sheri Crafts and join in on the fun!

Birthday card for brother

I just had to find an excuse to use my new "Walter" stamp from Magnolia and what better excuse than a brother's card!  lol  First I looked thru a lot of blog challenges for just the right sketch and am pleased with the one I chose. I dug thru my scrap drawer to find some browns to use and decided on the plaid and stripes and figured blue to accent. I even dug out brads, which I have not used in a very long time.  I also dug out my old Quikutz dies for the hinges and used some nesties for the corner embellishments.  The sentiment is from Clear Dollar Stamps.  I inked all the edges and sewed.  For the final touch, I added stickles to everything.  lol  I am sure my brother will like Walter and his card as he loves anything people make him.  Thank you all for stopping by.  May God hold you tight in His love!  Blessings to all.

Birthday card for daughter

This is the card I made for my eldest daughter for her 35th birthday today!  Happy Birthday smart beautiful daughter!  lol  I hope your day is perfect!  I cannot believe how fast my little kids grew up and now are almost as old as I am!

This cute little stamp is one of my new ones from Magnolia.  Am anxious as my next order should be here tomorrow!  Anyway, I chose this little Tilda because I think she is so cute.  I colored her with copics with a few accents from colored pencils.  The tag stamp is another new purchase from Bildmalarna.   I used my new die and stamp from Whimsy for the Birthday Sentiment.  Again I inked all the edges and then sewed.
Added a few heart shaped pearls and flowers that have been in my stash forever, and am calling it done.  I hope my sweet daughter likes my creation even tho she is not a pink type gal.  lol  I just have to scrap with pinks when I can as I have so many males and so few females in the family.  So like it or not, my girls usually get something in pinks.  lol

Thanks so much for stopping by.  May God keep you forever in His care.

Little Christmas shepherd card

This is the card I did for a Christmas card challenge group I am in.  Other than the red cardstock, the papers are all scraps from previous cards. This cute little stamp is from Stampavie.  I think he is just too cute. I colored him with copics and colored pencils.  The sentiment stamp is from TAC.  I used a new nesties die for the circle.  Inked and sewed the edges.  I feel the card is a bit plain but not sure what to do to spice it up so it will be as is.  lol  Thanks so much for looking and may God always bless you.

Another Hannah layout

This is a layout I made for the small challenge group I am in.  It was a sketch challenge for this month.  I love these photos ofe my sweet little Hannah girl.  As you can see, it was not her happiest day at gramma's. lol  I also challenged myself to use up more scraps and stash as well as make my own embellies.  I had purchased the TH rosette die and my mind told me it would make the cutest flowers for this layout.  I listened to my mind and again must question myself  "WHY".  I am not happy at all with the way it turned out but at least it is done and I can move on to something new.  lol  I did use scrap papers for the flowers.  The large circle was made by using a MS corner punch to make the lace design around the edge.  I then used the MS border punch that matches for added accent on the green borders.  I inked the edges and sewed around everything.  The little heart pearls are from my stash from who knows how long they have been stashed!  The letters and numbers are chipboard die cuts that I painted and finished with Glossy Accents.  The open peach space on the second page will be for journaling.  Very simple layout but done.  lol  Thanks for stopping by.  God bless each of you.

Hannah's birthday card

I made this card for my youngest grand daughter whose birthday is next week.  I have always scrapped her cards in pinks and girly girly things.  She informed me one day that she really did not like pinks but everyone seems to think she does.  She was not talking about my cards or anything particular.....just discussing different colors.  I remembered her words and vowed to do her card in anything but pink.  This is hard for me because with only two grand daughters and nine grand sons, I hardly get to make too many pink things.  lol

Hannah has a love for all animals so thought she would like my new Tilda stamp.  After coloring her, I did a search for a sketch to use and when I saw the one from Carly, I knew it was the one I wanted to use for this card.  Her sketches are so fun I think.  I used an older Kanban stamp for the "hug" sentiment and my new Whimsy die for the little banner sentiment.  Whimsy die and nestties die for the frames.  I used a MS punch for the lace border,  I inked and sewed around the edges and finished it off with a charm and stickles.  I sure hope Hannah will like this change from her girly girl cards she usually receives from me.

Thank you so much for stopping by.  God bless.

Hannah- fishing

This is a layout I made for a small challenge group I am in.  The challenge was to choose one of the 3 given sketches and make a double mirror image layout.

This is my youngest grand daughter who loves fishing and just about any other thing she can spend time doing with Daddy.  I cannot believe how small she was and how fast time goes by.  Back in 2004, my family surprised me with a camping trip in honor of my 50th birthday.  To some this may not seem that special but my hubby hates camping and he was the one that planned it all!  When I think about it, it still amazes me.  Anyway, little Hannah was a very dedicated fisherman this day and was so happy when she caught her first fish.  When we got back to camp that evening, she was just as excited to eat her catch too.

I am trying to learn to use stamped images for my scrap books also but not too sure I am happy with that idea.  I do wish the little Tilda stamp was a bit larger for this page.  The little fish is a Hanglar stamp.  I do not know why I neglected to sew on this layout as I usually do!  I used my CE to cut the flourishes, a MS border punch, nesties and then my new Whimsy die.  Finished things off with inking the edges and added stickles to the flourishes.  The little fish charm is out of my older stash that I am trying to use!

Thanks so much for stopping by and may God always bless each of you.

Christmas in July

This was made for the Christmas card challenge group I belong to.  It was due by today so I hurried and threw this poor card together real fast.  I used the cute Nativity stamp from High Hopes.  I colored it with copics and highlighted with colored pencils.  The patterned papers are scraps from other Christmas projects.  The lace circle is a nesties die.  I dug deep in my charm stash for the little charm in the center of the bow.  I added a few pearls to accent the scallops some.  I don't know why I thought I could sew around the scallops but probably won't be thinking that way again!  lol  All edges are inked with Chestnut Roan chalks.  The image is popped for added dimension.  Thank you so much for stopping by.  God be with you always.

Tauna's card

Today is my niece's birthday and I wanted to make her a card because she is so special to me.  I want to thank my nephew for marrying her all those years ago just so I could be her auntie.  Love you both so much!  Anyway, I thought my new little Tilda stamp holding the flower was too cute so chose her.  I don't make many "girly" cards with blues so decided to try it.  The pp is one sheet double sided so didn't spend too much time trying to match papers.  lol  I used two stamps from Whimsy.....the little banner and the sentiment.  The circle around the sentiment is a nesties die as well as the heart square around the image.  I inked the edges and sewed around them.  The flowers and leaves are from my old stash from forever ago.  lol  As you can see I finished it off with stickles as normal.  lol  Thanks so much for stopping by and visiting.  Hugs and God bless you all.

Friend's Birthday card

Okay this card was a challenge from the very start!  lol  I was running out of time so my first challenge was getting it done and mailed (which did not happen on time)!  I knew right off what image I wanted to use because this friend not only loves Magnolia stamps, but adores bears.  I also knew I would use purple as this is her favorite color.....my least fav to scrap!  lol  So it started off with another challenge of colors.  I am so not a purple person.  I figured while it seemed this card was a challenge from the very start, I would make it even more and see just how many different embellies I could do on it and still have it not be to ugly.  I mean, after starting with purple, uphill is the only place I could go!  lol  Just teasing all you purple lovers out there.  Anyway, I used copics to colors her.  I found a sketch I liked but knew I would not get it done in time to enter their challenge but used it anyway.  I did use three of my new dies from Whimsy....the little bar thing in the upper left corner, the half circle with the Birthday sentiment, and the little ticket.  The paper lace border and the scalloped oval are Nesties.  I inked all the edges and then sewed. Added lots of flowers and pearls.  The image is popped for added dimension  an well as the ticket.  Topped everything off with some stickles and shimmerz.  I knew she would be surprised I made her a purple card so did not want to post until after she received it.  I was so happy when she said she loved it.....even tho it was late.

Thank you so much for stopping by.  May God bless each of you in a very special way.

Another grandson's birthday

My grandkids all seem to like Angry Birds.  When I saw a card on Pinterest, I knew I had to make one for my eldest grandchild.  He will be 15 on the 5th and I cannot believe it has been that long since I first layed my eyes on this most precious child.  I love step cards and thought the theme was perfect for a step card.  I drew the little birds (and pig) and paper pieced them together.....shading some with ink and some with chalks.  The sentiment stamp is from on of the first stamp sets I purchased years ago.  His name is cut from the Playground sizzix set, also purchased years ago.  lol  I sure hope my grandson likes this card!

Thank you so much for taking time to stop by.  Hugs to all and God bless!

Sil Card

I was struggling a tad as to just what image to use for my sil's birthday card this year.  So, while visiting with my youngest dd, I mentioned this to her.  She promptly replied "Surely you have a stamp that has something to do with archery or hunting or something he is interested in!"  Immediately I thought of this cute little Robin Hood Edwin stamp. I have had it for a long time and never used it. I colored him with Copics and am thinking I am getting a little better with shading but still need lots of lessons.  Well, not too sure my sil will like my choice but it is what it is!  lol  His favorite color is green, so I did a little overkill with it.  lol  Added some brown cardstock to hope break up the greens.  The sketch was one from Willow Sketchie with the "theme" challenge of bling.  So out came the stickles and glittered pearls.  The little ticket sentiments as well as the half circles are from my new dies from Whimsy.

Thank you so much for stopping by.  God bless you all.
